As
the
Associate
Commissioner
for
the
Low-Level
Radioactive
Waste
Authority,
Thor
Strong
is
responsible
for
the
day-to-day
management
of
the
Authority,
under
the
general
policy
direction
of
the
Authority
Commissioner.
Strong
also
serves
as
Michigans
representative
on
both
the
Midwest
High-Level
Radioactive
Waste
Transportation
Committee
and
the
EPA
Region
V
Regional
Response
Team.
Strong,
who
has
worked
in
various
capacities
at
the
Authority
since
1989,
has
been
involved
in
Michigan
environmental
protection
programs
since
1979,
primarily
in
hazardous
waste
cleanup
efforts
under
Superfund
and
a
similar
state
program.
He
holds
a
bachelors
degree
in
environmental
sciences
from
the
University
of
Virginia
and
a
masters
degree
in
natural
resource
planning
from
Michigan
State
University.
