As a Section Manager in the Nuclear Waste Program of the Washington Department of Ecology, Lawrence Goldstein is responsible for coordinating policy development for the state's activities at the Hanford Site and related jurisdictions. Goldstein, a staff member in the Department since 1985, has experience in water quality, environmental investigations and inter-agency technical report writing. In 1989, he represented the state in negotiating the Hanford Federal Facility Agreement and Consent Order, which guides compliance and cleanup activities at the U.S.Department of Energy's Hanford site.

Goldstein received his undergraduate degree in Conservation of Natural Resources, with an emphasis on wildlife biology and ornithology from the University of California at Berkeley. He earned a master’s degree in environmental science from The Evergreen State College.
